María Fernanda specializes as a creative producer partnering with national literary initiatives, performing arts centers, museums, public libraries, and more. Her work is inspired by the people she serves.

Readings

Award-winning poet María Fernanda performs across the United States. Her practice experiments with genealogy charts (inspired by poet Sarah Ghazal Ali) and etymology charts based on her independent research at Planet Word. Each chart placeholder for a name or word is replaced by lyric. In person, she presents her pieces on broadsides.

Literary Experiences

Award-winning poet María Fernanda leads literary workshops in the form of collective literary experiences. She conceives and develops each with the intention of supporting writers in their literary career. Participants create new work within her personalized framework, as well as ignite unique ways to begin writing. Historically grounding her experiences is another key component.

As part of Best of D.C.™ 2024’s Best Library Branch of 2024, The Washington City Paper recognized the DC Public Library at Mount Pleasant as the Runner Up, where award-winning poet María Fernanda conceived and developed seven programmatic events, resulting in nearly 60% of their overall poetry programming.
